Although world markets continue to be extremely volatile, there are some positive signs beginning to emerge which help us to manage your portfolio.

In particular, the significant reductions in interest rates and other financial measures taken by the Government have resulted in the threat of inflation subsiding quite considerably and it is now likely that we will be moving into a prolonged period of low inflation.

We are therefore recommending that the Index Linked Gilts currently held within your portfolio are switched to Ordinary Gilts. Historically these have performed better than the Index Linked variety when inflation is low. We believe this switch will help to retain an important aspect of stability within your portfolio.
