December 2006

Season's Greetings

Welcome to the December issue of our newsletter keeping you up to date with investment matters. We hope you find it interesting.
You can contact us at advice@argylefinancialgroup.co.uk

As another year draws to a close we can reflect on the fact that, despite some midsummer madness in the markets, we should all be a little better off today than we were at the beginning of January, financially at least.

Government continues to confuse with u-turns on pension policy... building up our enthusiasm for retirement planning, with potentially exciting changes to legislation... which are promptly snatched away again. Hopefully Mr Brown will be more consistently focussed in the future, particularly if he is to be our next Prime Minister.

Incidentally, you can find full details of the Main Taxation Provisions contained in the Chancellors Pre-Budget Report of 6th December, now posted on our website.

Recent changes to ISA rules* could make it worth your while bringing Cash ISAs from previous years into your Argyle Transact Wrap account. In fact, your account can hold any type of investment, including pensions and we shall be contacting you in the New Year to outline the potential benefits of this strategy in greater depth.

Children in Need Donation

Once again we have elected to make a charitable donation (to Children In Need) in lieu of sending out cards. So, it just remains for me to say on behalf of Jean, myself and everyone at Argyle have a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

* It is now possible to transfer any funds held in Cash ISAs from previous years into an Equity ISA and to do so without affecting current year allowances.
